COMPREHENSIVE HEARING EVALUATION
A comprehensive hearing evaluation includes a visual examination of your ear canals, is a non-invasive, simple process that allows us to determine if you have hearing loss and if so, what type and degree of loss is present.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
1. CONSULTATION
During the consultation, we will review the difficulties you may be noticing, your medical history, current medication, family history of hearing loss, work history and your lifestyle.
This information assists us to develop an overall picture of your hearing and what treatment options may benefit you.

2. VISUAL EXAMINATION
An examination of your ear canal with an otoscope will be performed to ensure that testing will not be impeded by earwax or other foreign body. It also allows the audiologist to evaluate the structures of your outer ear including the canal wall and the tympanic membrane (eardrum).

3. HEARING TESTING
The hearing test will involve the placement of headphones over or in your ears. The test will include pure tone air conduction and bone conduction testing, as well as speech testing.

4. RESULTS/RECOMMENDATIONS
Following your evaluation, the audiologist will review the results with you. If you are a hearing aid candidate and would like to discuss hearing aids, appropriate amplification options will be discussed with you to determine what would work best for you in terms of performance, cosmetic appeal and financially.

HEARING AID MAINTENANCE/REPAIR
Once you have hearing aids, you will want them to undergo regular maintenance to ensure they are functioning optimally. We will clean and check your hearing aids to ensure they are working appropriately. If it happens that the hearing aid must be repaired, we are able to send it in to the manufacturer to be repaired.

HEARING AID FITTING
If it was determined during your evaluation that you have hearing loss and wish to pursue amplification, you will now be fit with a hearing aid(s). These will be a model that you and your audiologist have decided are most appropriate considering your loss, cosmetic appeal, lifestyle and finances. The hearing aids will be programmed for your individual hearing loss and fit to you. There will be a follow up appointment scheduled to address any issues that arise or make any programming adjustments needed.
